Ready for adventures of any size. The Silex 4000 is the entry to Merida’s carbon fibre framed lineup, pairing their lightweight frame and fork with high-value equipment such as the utterly durable 10-speed Shimano GRX drivetrain with a double chainset for climb-anything ability. Tough, tubeless-ready Maxxis Rambler tyres plus Merida’s mountain bike-inspired geometry provide a predictable and planted connection to the ground while quality Merida finishing kit delivers performance without needing any fanfare.

The Silex turns any ride into an adventure, whether you’re on a multi-day gravel bikepacking mission or just taking the fun route to work. The latest version builds on the test-winning pedigree of the original Silex but adds even more off-road capability, thanks to a slacker head angle and boosted tyre clearance of up to 700x45 mm or even 42 mm with fenders. Merida combined that confident mountain bike-inspired handling with all-surface versatility so that it is utterly stable when loaded up with luggage but still fast and fun when you put the hammer down. Merida added their sleek WIRE PORT cable routing for improved looks – and fewer cables to catch on with a handlebar bag – and the carbon fibre fork now has more cargo mounts plus internal routing for a dynamo hub. With the ability to use 1x or 2x drivetrains, you can pick your gearing to suit the task at hand or your own personal preference, opening up a world of opportunity for you and your Silex.

Merida Silex Bike Sizing Chart

Merida is an international bike brand with its headquarters in Taiwan, the R&D department is based near Stuttgart in Germany. To be based in Germany has historical reasons for MERIDA but the precise location was chosen specifically because the region around Stuttgart is one of the hot spots of the automotive and machine building industry which Germany is famous for and attracts a hugely skilled design and engineer labor force.

The Merida team are more than just highly trained and experienced bicycle creators – they simply love everything ‘bike’. Most of their R&D staff are daily bike commuters while others are serious mountain bikers, who regularly compete in Marathon, Enduro and Downhill competitions, or licensed road racers and even ambitious Ironman triathletes. Get the behind the scenes view of the Merida R&D centre and meet some of their key members of staff in the below video.
