Born in New Zealand, Hiko makes hills disappear and transforms heavy commutes into smooth rides with electric assistance you can trust. These bikes are built for comfort and reliability, engineered to make pushing pedals feel optional on steep climbs and long rides.
The Hiko Story
Hiko was established in 2013, following a decade of designing and importing electric bikes. The philosophy has always centred on quality, choosing components that will deliver performance for years—not months. Every model is built to withstand New Zealand’s varied terrain and weather.
This history benefits you by meaning each Hiko bike is designed with durability in mind; strong frames, reliable motors, long-life batteries and attention to real riding conditions, so that you get comfort and confidence every time you ride.

Why Ride Hiko?
- High-torque motors that mask the hills. Many Hiko models use Ananda mid-drive motors producing around 120 Newton-metres which makes steep climbs much easier.
- Large capacity Samsung and LG batteries. Standards are around 48 volts, 15 amp-hour (720 Wh) cell packs with options for even larger 840 Wh upgrades so you can travel further without panic.
- Built for real conditions. Hydraulic disc brakes with power cut-off, quality suspension forks, full mudguards, lights powered by the main battery and rugged tyres make them reliable in rain or on gravel.
- Strong warranty and service support. Frames are covered for five years, batteries and motors for two, and there is a network of authorised dealers to ensure peace of mind post-purchase.
Popular Hiko Ranges Explained
Hiko Patrol
The Hiko Patrol is an electric mountain bike with full suspension that handles both trail ride and long commutes with ease. You get a powerful Ananda motor and a Samsung 720 Wh battery so the hills feel much gentler and your ride stays smooth.
Hiko Vibe
The Hiko Vibe has a step-through frame that makes getting on and off simple. It combines a large 672 Wh battery with robust off-road capable tyres and hydraulic brakes so it’s comfortable on mixed terrain, whether it's paved roads or loose gravel.
Hiko Swift
The Hiko Swift is built smaller with 24-inch wheels, still packing strong battery power and reliable components. It’s ideal if you want the torque and range of a full-sized hybrid, but with a lighter, more manoeuvrable ride.
Hiko Ascent
The Hiko Ascent sits in the hardtail mountain category. That gives you the same high-torque 120 Nm motor, plus strong 720 Wh or 840 Wh battery, front suspension, and all the accessories you need to make it a practical commuter from Monday to Sunday.
Hiko Rangler
The Hiko Rangler is rugged and capable. With mountain-bike style frame geometry, a high torque motor, and large battery options, you get the confidence to tackle rough trails or rugged urban paths without compromise.
