Project Flock believes safety happens when others see you as a person, not just a flashing red light. Their lights use biomotion—lighting up your moving legs—to help drivers spot you sooner and recognise you as a human in motion. That kind of visibility isn’t about brightness alone, it’s about being genuinely noticeable.

The Project Flock Story

Project Flock began in Melbourne when industrial design student Tim Ottaway researched how to make cyclists more visible on roads. He discovered that highlighting human movement—or biomotion—causes others to spot cyclists up to 5.5 times sooner than a standard rear light. Alongside co-founder Marie Penny, he built a light system that uses LEDs, engineered optics, and smart sensors to make human form the focus.

That early lab work became a real product with features like multiple lighting modes, USB-C charging, waterproofing, and a seat post mount that fits standard, aero and D-shape styles. Riders benefit today from a light designed by one of their own: Kiwi born, human centred, and attuned to the road you ride every day.

Why Ride Project Flock?

  • Better visibility with biomotion lighting. Lighting up your legs draws attention to movement, making you visible sooner to drivers and others.
  • Engineered for everyday conditions. The gear is waterproof to IPX6, mounts fit standard, aero and D-shape seat posts, and the rear LED is designed with optics that balance visibility without dazzling.
  • Four modes to match your ride. You can use full strength for solo low-light rides, group mode to avoid glare, daytime flashing when you need presence, and eco mode for long runtimes.
  • Thoughtfully built and locally grounded. Assembled in Melbourne with materials like 3D printed parts and reinforced housings, each light supports local innovation while offering reliability you can count on.
