Boys and girls aged 8 to 11 years old or who are 125 to 148cm tall are generally best suited to a 24 inch kids bike. 24 inch bikes are most commonly designed in a mountain bike style, featuring gears and suspension forks. 24 inch bikes are the second largest bike available for what we would call kids bikes. For taller kids, the next progression would be either a 26 inch bike or onto an extra small adults bike.
There are a few types of bikes styles that 24 inch bikes are available in, the most common being kids mountain bikes and fat bikes. Both of these bikes typically feature adult bike components, with gears, rim or disc brakes, and suspension. The next most popular style is road bikes, with 24 inch bikes featuring many of the parts and components a full sized road bike would have. Other styles that can be available in 24 inch bikes are BMX and cruisers
Girls 24 inch bikes and boys 24 inch bikes are quite similar in many areas, with factors such as frame and colours changing. Girls 24 inch bikes like boys bikes feature mainly lightweight alloy frames although different frame geometry more often than not, means that girls bikes are designed specifically to improve comfort. Boys 24 inch bike frames will look much like the traditional full sized bike just smaller junior sized frame and wheels.
