The new MATTS J20+ features not just a brand new and weight optimised frame but is designed around plus sized tyres for extra grip and comfort, without adding unnecessary weight. Simple, stylish and hugely effective. Made from the same 6061 lightweight aluminium Merida use in adult bikes; the frames are also painted and lacquered in the same way, so the bikes can still look great even after a few tough knocks. Rigid forks keep the weight minimal while maximising pedalling efficiency, which is a huge advantage for much lighter riders. Gears are also kept to a minimum, avoiding confusion for young riders, again reducing weight. Hydraulic Disc Brakes provide all conditions stopping power while the Children's specific components such as the short reach shifter and brake levers ensure that even the youngest cyclists can use their bikes safely and comfortably and make them easy to handle in any situation. Merida is an international bike brand with its headquarters in Taiwan, the R&D department is based near Stuttgart in Germany. To be based in Germany has historical reasons for MERIDA but the precise location was chosen specifically because the region around Stuttgart is one of the hot spots of the automotive and machine building industry which Germany is famous for and attracts a hugely skilled design and engineer labor force.

The Merida team are more than just highly trained and experienced bicycle creators – they simply love everything ‘bike’. Most of their R&D staff are daily bike commuters while others are serious mountain bikers, who regularly compete in Marathon, Enduro and Downhill competitions, or licensed road racers and even ambitious Ironman triathletes.
