Name: Andrew Melbz

Role: Team Leader

Experience: From a love of bikes to a professional career, I am passionate about helping people with their cycling adventures. Migrating from Australia having managed a 99 Bikes store in Adelaide, I have been an active member in the expansion of the 99 Bikes brand internationally, growth on my 15+ years working in customer service & retail. I personally have had a range of hands on experience in a pleather of professional roles including, UCI Pro-Team Astana Cycling Soigneur, Managing Director of VenturePod Australia, multiple roles with IKEA Adelaide and, a Fitness Coach at Nucleus Adelaide.

Expertise: Road Bikes, Bike Fitting & Bike Setup, Maintenance and, Indoor Trainers

What do you love about bikes?: Bikes bring together groups of people like nothing else can. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional, weekend warrior or novice, bikes fuel the sense of adventure; Getting outside in the fresh air and experiencing the thrill of the adventure.

Favourite Ride: Living by the bay I am a sucker for good long coastal ride and hills mix up. With a need for speed and a good sunrise/sunset, what else could you ask for!

Name: Jeroen van Assema

Role: Second in Charge

Experience: Over a decade in retail management, I joined 99 Bikes when Bike Barn Wellington changed hands. I have been in the bike world for over three years now

Expertise: Family bikes (I'm the only dad of the crew) and mountain biking.

What do you love about bikes: The freedom and challenge of the ride. Pushing skills and hardware to get the best run. I love the camaraderie of the Mountain bike world

Current bikes: No bike at the moment, but asking Santa for a 2021 Norco...

Favourite ride: Polhill Reserve in the Aro Valley of Wellington. Our local ride gives gradual climb up to the Karori/Zealandia bird sanctuary fence line and rewards with long flowy downhill runs that can accommodate any skill level. Popular day or night! Tui, kereru, kaka, bellbird and saddleback accompany each ride.

Name: Kyle Kopicki

Role: Sales Consultant and Mechanic

Experience: I've worked in the bike industry for just over 3 year. The industry excites me. It's always on the move.

Expertise: I’m savvy in MTBs but I’ll have a yan about anything bikes.

What do you love about bikes: I love the sounds bikes make. I love tinkering with bikes. Nothing beats the sound of tire on a good trail.

Current bikes: I'm about to purchase a Norco sight and I'm building a Merida Scultura 9000 from the frame up.

Favourite ride: The best times I've had on a trail was at in Rotorua Redwoods.

Name: Nate Voltia

Role: Mechanic

Experience: Started working on bikes down in Queenstown at bike rentals back in 2016. Been honing my skills as a mechanic ever since and joining 99 Bikes has provided an awesome chance to further develop them.

Expertise: Fixing bikes.

What do you love about bikes: Tinkering with all the components to figure out how they work and how to make them work better.

Name: Michael Bell

Role: Sales Consultant

Experience: With 4 years’ experience working between Customer Service to Hospitality roles. I'm passionate about helping customers; I try to greet every customer with a warm friendly face, and an energetic greeting when you walk through our doors. My retail experience with Bikes started in only in February 2020 but, since then I've really gotten into the industry learning as  much as I can to help out every customer get the most out of their riding experience.

Expertise: Early learning & Kids bike specialist.

What do you love about bikes: I love the speed, control and adrenaline rush you feel going through fast trails, along with enjoying the outdoors; the beautiful view that getting to the peaks of trails can give, plus just a generally great way to improve fitness.

Favourite ride: Living in Aro Valley means Polhill is easily accessible and a great set of rides in general, or for the more calming trail rides I enjoy the Lake Karapiro section of the Waikato river trail when up there on Holiday
