Key Features
  • MTB Inspired gravel geometry, lightweight alloy frame

  • Mechanical disc brakes
  • Multiple mounting points for accessories
  • Maxxis Rambler 700 x 38c tubeless ready tyres
Ideal for off-road adventures or commuting, the Silex was a ground up design project. Rather than taking a road or cyclocross bike and re-jigging the recipe, the starting point for the Silex was modern MTB inspired geometry; long top and head tubes and a short stem, offering nimble, confidence-inspiring handling. This highly versatile bike provides exceptional comfort and ride quality, perfect for riders looking to head wherever the urge takes them.

The Silex 200 is an entry level option with reliable 18 speed Shimano Sora drivetrain and mechanical disc brakes. The prolite triple butted aluminium frame is hydroformed, resulting in slimmer aerodynamic tube profiles, while smooth welding and internal cable routing offers up a sleek aesthetic. MTB Inspired gravel geometry paired with a carbon fork with tapered steerer maximise riding comfort. The bike has five sets of bottle bosses and rack mounting points offering multiple luggage carrying options, ready to be kitted out for the daily commute or bikepacking adventure.

Merida Silex Bike Sizing Chart

Merida is an international bike brand with its headquarters in Taiwan, the R&D department is based near Stuttgart in Germany. To be based in Germany has historical reasons for MERIDA but the precise location was chosen specifically because the region around Stuttgart is one of the hot spots of the automotive and machine building industry which Germany is famous for and attracts a hugely skilled design and engineer labor force.

The Merida team are more than just highly trained and experienced bicycle creators – they simply love everything ‘bike’. Most of their R&D staff are daily bike commuters while others are serious mountain bikers, who regularly compete in Marathon, Enduro and Downhill competitions, or licensed road racers and even ambitious Ironman triathletes. Get the behind the scenes view of the Merida R&D centre and meet some of their key members of staff in the below video.
